Closings & Cancellations

In collaboration with

The M.N. Spear Memorial Library

and The Libraries in the Woods,

The New Salem Public Library

is pleased to present an evening with mystery authors.

Archer Mayor,

in conversation with

Julia Spencer-Fleming, Paula Munier &

Sarah Stewart Taylor

Archer Mayor is the author of the long-running and acclaimed Joe Gunther series, with the 31st book (The Orphan's Guilt) being released later this month. The Chicago Tribune describes his novels as “the best police procedurals being written in America,” and The New York Times calls Mayor “one of the most sophisticated stylists in the genre”.

Paula Munier is the author of the Mercy Carr series (The Borrowing of Bones, Blind Search) featuring an Afghan war veteran and her search dog Elvis, both of whom have returned home to Vermont to recover from PTSD. Hallie Ephron says of the first in the series--"A nuanced nail-biter with a compelling quartet of crime fighters: two extraordinary rescue and rescued dogs and their human handlers."

Sarah Stewart Taylor is the author of the Sweeney St. George mystery series and a new series featuring Long Island detective Maggie D'Arcy in The Mountains Wild. Julia Spencer Fleming says of the new novel--"Lyrical, moody, The Mountains Wild unfolds like an Irish ballad, at turns stirring, tender and tragic. Sarah Stewart Taylor has written a book as much about the mysteries of the human heart as the questions surrounding the long-missing woman at the silent center of the tale. A triumphant return to the genre."

Julia Spencer-Fleming is the author of the Clare Fergusson/Russ Van Alstyne series that pairs an Episcopalian priest and police chief in upstate New York. She recently released Hid From Our Eyes, the 9th and long-anticipated volume. Rhys Bowen says “Not only is this a tense mystery unfolding simultaneously in three time periods but it is also a poignant drama touching the flawed and very real main characters."
